Our lives are filled with countless winds

a series of waits to achieve our wishes. It takes a long time to reach what we desire, making us stronger in process. I've reflected on this common experience and wanted to express it through Gwaengibab. Gwaengi rice seeds may seem small and insignificant, yet the wind around them can shine brilliantly, symbolizing a mysterious and beautiful wish waiting to bloom—a desire to start anew somewhere else. Gwaengi rice seeds help turn those wishes into reality, and we have been waiting for so long. Gwaengi rice is reborn as a more vibrant grass. For those reading this book, may the wishes in your heart shine brilliantly during this solid wait. I hope for that.

Sojung Lim wrote and illustrated several children books in Korea. She currently lives in Singapore and is active as a Korean traditional folk painting artist. She is focusing on creating art, which reflects contemporary topics at the foundation on folk painting technique and rich beautiful colours.

Yeun-hea has been a book artist since 2008, and I have been working in books and pop-ups on various topics. I am especially interested in traditional culture, so i reflect traditional themes in my work.
